The Watkins Glen / Beaver Dams, New York area may seem an unusual location in which to find Southern Gospel music, but that is where The Ayers Family makes its home. The Ayers Family now consists of Dan, his wife, Jessie, their daughter, Vicky and son, Michael. Dan recently retired, but all the rest have jobs. It isn't easy to schedule rehearsals around different work and church obligations, but they have sacrificed to make it work. And work it has. As their concert schedule has continued to grow, the family has had the opportunity to open for some of the most popular artists in Southern Gospel music, including: The Kingsmen, Kirk Talley, The Melody Boys and The Anchormen.
Dan and Jessie sang in their little country church as youngsters. Jessie started playing piano in that church as a young teenager. They sang in a group called "The Happiness Singers" in the early seventies. After the pair married and had children they continued using their talents for the Lord and sang in various churches, adding the children as they grew. In 1993, Dan's sister, Tere,  joined them and they sang and traveled together for 8 years, until Tere moved to Georgia.
In those eight years, the family recorded two projects. The first, "On Our Way," was produced in Nashville in 1995. The second, "On the Glory Road" was done in Savona, New York in 1998. The Ayers Family presents the Gospel through song and testimony, hoping to bring non-Christians to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to bring hope, inspiration and encouragement to fellow Christians.
